Five Students Receive Rosenstiel’s First Undergrad Degrees
Commencement ceremonies on December 18, 2008 marked the first time in the Rosenstiel School’s rich 65-year history that undergraduate degrees were conferred by the Rosenstiel School’s administration. Students in UM Rosenstiel School’s inaugural undergraduate class are: George Kaminis who received his B.A. in Marine Affairs, and Megan James, Graham Kolodziej, Elizabeth Restrepo and Jordan Ross who received their B.S. in Marine and Atmospheric Science. 2009 Sea Secrets Launches With Whale Sharks
The whale shark is the world’s largest species of shark and yet information is just coming to light on their numbers, behavior and ecology. On January 14, Dr. Robert Hueter, director of the Center for Shark Research at Mote Marine Lab will discuss his interactions with these gentle behemoths as well as his participation on a collaborative U.S.-Mexico team of scientists that studied the largest known aggregation of whale sharks and their migrations into the coldest depths of the sea.
